Over 20 Years of Sweet Traditions: The Story Behind Hawaii’s Iconic Shokudo Honey Toast

HONOLULU, HI — Kaimuki Shokudō and Waikiki Shokudō are proud to commemorate more than two decades of serving one of Hawaii’s most celebrated signature desserts: the Shokudo Honey Toast. First introduced in 2005, this iconic creation has evolved from a Japanese classic into a staple of Hawaii’s culinary landscape, bringing together friends, families, and generations around the table.

Crafted to be shared with loved ones, the Shokudo Honey Toast features a whole toasted bread loaf filled with crispy, hand-cut golden bread cubes, generously drizzled with sweet honey, and topped with rich Roselani Ice Cream. Over the past 20+ years, the signature dessert has remained true to its original recipe while continuously inspiring vibrant seasonal variations and creative twists tailored to evolving tastes.

In honor of this multi-decade milestone, guests are invited to visit @kaimukishokudo or @waikikishokudo to enjoy the classic original or try the latest seasonal flavor offerings.
